Dr. Oberlander ended with his speculations concerning the current "midlife" crisis regarding Medicare and the current political arena. William Plonk, M.D. (Department of Internal Medicine, University of Virginia, Charlottesville) entitled his talk, "Why care about Medicare politics?" and he described how Medicare determines what our nation spends money on, what physicians get paid, what care patients recieve, and what standard of medical care is given.
