In this video, Swati and Jyoti Argade perform two classical Indian Dances in the Bharatanatyam style. "Natyanjali" (An Invocation of Dance) and "Krishna Keertana" (Song in Praise of Lord Krishna), choreographed by the Dhananjayans of Adyar, Madras, are each shown in their entirety followed by a second version shot in close-up to accentuate the facial expression, footwork, and hand gestures common to this style of narrative dance. Finally, a detailed explanation of the narrative, facial expressions, and gestures is provided by the performers.

Classic dances of India performed in traditional costume by Nala Najan, leading American dancer and teacher of Indian dance. Dances include a celebrated invocation "of auspicious beginnings" from South India; a South Indian dance to a religious song; and a North Indian dance of great antiquity that came from Hindu tradition but was adapted by the Moslem culture and spread from Spain to China. The closing number, a court dance taught to Najan by the prince of the court titled "Wounded Deer," is a metaphor for non-violence.

In separate interviews Martha Carr and Malena del Mar, former members of La Meri's dance company, discuss her work on Cape Cod, where she ended her career, and talk about their desire to preserve her choreography. With this purpose they have co-founded their own dance company, named Ethnic Dance Arts after La Meri's company. Carr and Del Mar are seen in video clips of dances from Tahiti, Hawaii and India ; Del Mar is also seen in a flamenco dance.
