The impetus for the film is the production of a 1988 music album, Efer ṿe-avak = Ashes and dust / by Yehuda Poliker and Ya'acov Gilad. The two bandmates are both children of Holocaust survivors, and the album concerns itself exclusively with the Holocaust and being a child of a Holocaust survivor. Through separate and combined interviews the film exposes the differences of Yehuda, Ya'acov and their families, in dealing with identity issues. Includes excerpts from recording sessions and songs from the album.
