Based on the memoirs of the filmmaker's grandmother, this docu-drama explores the inner struggles of an Asian Indian immigrant family torn between their cultural traditions and the desire for social acceptance. Members of one of the first East Indian families to settle on the West Coast of America, the Singh boys were taunted for the turbans they wore, a tradition sacred to their Sikh ancestors, that served only to identify them as outsiders in the prejudiced landscape of Astoria, Oregon circa 1918.

It was 1964 and Beatnics, "the Pranksters," and other psychedelic revolutionaries were gathering together in California with Ken Kesey, who had just written "Sometimes a Great notion." The publication party was to be in "Madhattan" in the middle of June. So they bought a bus, painted it and hit the road sharing such adventures as the bus stuck in Arizona and the loss of a Prankster in Houston, plus numerous wild adventures inside the bus, with Neal Cassady at the wheel, rapping and rolling. Following the main feature join them as they take the bus to Britain and Ireland, touring, performing, and widening the consciousness of all they meet.
