Documents the music and customs of French-speaking Blacks near the town of Mamou in southwest Louisiana. Features an older, rural style of Cajun music performed by "Bois Sec" Ardoin, his sons, and Canray Fontenot. Shows incidents in the lives of the Ardoin and Fontenot families including work in rice fields, a "men's only" supper, a hog butchering party, and a country Mardi Gras celebration.
