The first is filmed in Guatemala, and shows a shaman curing a woman on whom a spell has been cast. The second sequence is filmed in Mexico and focuses on a Mazatec shaman. The third section, also filmed in Mexico, shows a conversation with a shaman and his attempt to cure the filmmaker, Claudine Viallon, of a migraine.
