Marching bands, floats, and flaming-baton twirlers participate in a mile-long American Legion parade in Roanoke, Va. Footage shows the damage done to two vehicles after a car crash on Bent Mountain near Roanoke. Officials of a United Fund subcommittee meet to discuss juvenile gangs. New postal rates go into effect at Roanoke post offices and people line up to buy old one-cent stamps and the new four-cent and seven-cent stamps. Roanoke's new library director Philip Ogilivie works in his new office.
