Summary
For more than 20 years, Iraqi television was dominated by one familiar, heavily-moustached face. But since the fall of Saddam Hussein, propaganda films have been replaced by offerings such as "Iraqi Pop Idol" and "Labor and Materials" - a property makeover show that rebuilds bombed-out homes - and thanks to night curfews, a population too frightened to leave their houses, and the advent of satellite TV, viewing figures are booming. This program traces the development of television in Iraq, from government-sponsored programming to contemporary entertainment channels featuring home-grown soaps and reality TV.
