Abstract
This paper will attempt to study popular American images of the Chinese immigrant to the United States through the writings of the leading American authors of the late Nineteenth Century. A brief look at Chinese immigration to the United States, Chinese lifestyles in the United States, and the resulting Chinese problem serve as background material for the study.
