Multiuser MISO Indoor Visible Light Communications

Abstract
High speed data communication is an essential requirement for future indoor wireless networks. Visible light communication (VLC) is a strong competitor for high-speed wireless networking since it brings an energy efficient and cost effective solution for indoor connectivity by integrating the internet access points with the illumination system. In this thesis we analyze the characteristics of a channel model for indoor VLC systems and consider the one user case using an M-ary pulse amplitude modulation (M-PAM) scheme. On that basis, we then focus on the multiuser case, for which we propose a power allocation joint optimization (PAJO) algorithm that maximizes the minimum signal to interference pulse noise ratio (SINR) of all users. We design a minimum mean square error (MMSE) filter to be used at the receiver of each user. Using simulation results, we show that our proposed PAJO has better BER performance than previous proposed methods while satisfying the illumination requirements for all users in this system.
