Col Thos Bell (d. 1800) had a daughter, Sally Jefferson Bell, to Mary Hemings (b. 1753), a Monticello slave. This daughter married Jesse Scott, whose mother was an Indian.--Jesse Scott (1781-1862) and his sons, Robt (1803-1899) and James (c 1810-1888), were talented musicians who married negroes. These children as well as their mother were born in the house.--Now location of Jefferson National Bank--Col Taliaferros Tavern
