World War I canvas field surgical kit with 2 snaps containing 8 instruments. Includes tweezers, scissors, bougie (?), hemostat, two small scalpels in a metal case stamped "PATENTED NOV. 5, 1912," one complete vial of sutures marked "Claustro-therman Catgut sutures, U.S.P, INTESTINAL - Atraumatic Needle, Chromic, Medium Type C, 00 In excess of 28 inches," and another marked "Kalmerld Catgut sutures, U.S.P. Chromic, Medium Type C, 0 In excess of 54 inches." Both made by Davis & Geck Inc., N.Y. USA. Also 9 loose sutures needles and thread imbedded in a small pad.
