Apparatus is contained within a wooden box with a metal handle and clasp. It contains a large cylindrical battery, 2 sponges on wooden handles, a metal plate, and papers related to the battery including an envelope printed with the National Commercial Co.'s (Medical Battery Makers) address in Cincinnati, Ohio. A paper on the inside of the lid gives directions for the use of the battery, and the lid-paper indicates that it is a Double Chamber High-Tension Battery made by the Aluminum Battery Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio. The battery was sold to Dr. W. M. Herr of Lancaster, Pa. whose name is stamped on the lid-paper. The item belonged to Mary Gibson's father, Joseph L. Eckenrode.
