Summary
One of the first audiometers was developed by David Edward Hughes in 1879 using an induction coil system. A commercial version was manufactured by Thomas Hawsley around 1885 in London, England. This replica was built by Dr. R. Quisling of Harrisonburg, Virginia, during the mid to late 20th century.
