Abstract
Member of the Virginia House of Delegates and Chairman of the Election Laws Study Commission James M. Thomson suggests revisions to electoral laws. He says that obtaining the consent of a person before placing him or her on a ballot should be mandatory; he supports an increase in the number of petitioners necessary to place a person on a ballot. Thomson also defends a candidate's right to choose what party he or she represents on a ballot
