Abstract
In Richmond, Va., member of the Democratic Party of Virginia's State Central Committee and former State Delegate Charles R. Fenwick responds to Governor Thomas B. Stanley's proposal to enact legislation that would deny state funding to integrated public schools while offering state-funded tuition grants for students seeking to attend segregated private schools. Fenwick argues that many public schools in Virginia will be forced to close under the new legislation and suggests that the plan will not be effective at preventing integration, since integrated schools will have the option of continuing operations using only local funding.
