Abstract
A city official tells WSLS-TV reporter Lee Garrett about the necessary repairs for Jefferson Street Bridge in Roanoke, Va. According to the man, Jefferson Street Bridge is the oldest bridge in Roanoke, built in 1889. After researching the bridge with a team of engineers, the man reports that it is unsafe for passenger use under current conditions. The man recommends that Roanoke City Council includes renovations to the bridge in the upcoming budget so that the bridge may be replaced promptly.
