The WSLS-TV News Film Collection, 1951-1971, comprises anchor scripts and 16mm news film created by Roanoke, Va., television station WSLS. A grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities funded the preservation and digitization of this collection.

Nearly 43,000 people enter the newly-opened Roosevelt Raceway, which features new escalators; trotting horses parade around the track to celebrate the opening of the new racing season; men and women line up outside windows to place their bets; the race begins and the horses trot around the track; shot of the Roosevelt Raceway at night time.
