Citizens of Roanoke, Va., pack the city's Hustings Court for the latest meeting of Roanoke City Council to discuss taxes. Mayor Murray Stoller leads the council, and another councilmember displays a tax chart. Earl A. Fitzpatrick, former Virginia state senator for Roanoke, Va., decries the reassessment of city real estate values and the increase of the real estate tax rate. Attendees look on as Stoller argues with businessman Albert Trompeter. Roanoke Chamber Of Commerce President W. Bolling Izard announces his support for the council's tax plan.
