Abstract
WSLS-TV reporter Joe Moffatt interviews John C. Webb, Virginia state delegate, regarding Governor Thomas B. Stanley's proposal to enact legislation that would deny state funding to integrated public schools while offering state-funded tuition grants for students seeking to attend segregated private schools. Webb refers to the proposal as "almost fraudulent," arguing that Stanley and other politicians tricked the people of Virginia into supporting the legislation by touting its "flexibility," using false promises of local pupil assignment boards to suggest that the legislation would enable decisions about integration to be made locally. Webb asserts his belief that Virginia should begin to comply with Supreme Court orders to integrate.
