Abstract
Sixth congressional district of Virginia Democratic candidate John Whitehead and his Republican opponent Richard Poff speak at the "Bosses' Night" meeting of the Roanoke, Va., Business and Professional Women's Club. Poff calls for tax cuts, a balanced budget, and debt reduction, which he argues will assist lower-income families by warding off inflation and helping to stabilize the value of the dollar. Whitehead stresses the importance of local government, arguing for the decentralization of power, reductions in federal government spending, tax cuts for lower and middle-income Americans, and the reevaluation and simplification of income tax laws and forms.
