Abstract
C.C. Crockett of Roanoke County, Va., condemns a new law that singles out independent candidates for Virginia county offices, requiring them to register with the Virginia State Board of Elections as well as the county in order to be included on the ballot. Crockett recounts his own experience in attempting to register as an independent candidate for the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors, asserting his belief that he was misled and therefore unable to file his information correctly. Crockett challenges Delegate Nelson Thurman to debate him on the legitimacy of the law.
