Abstract
The Roanoke Democratic Committee meets to discuss the upcoming primary election. The committee selects July 9 as the date for the primary and elects Julian H. Rutherfoord, Jr., as its new chairman. Benton Dillard and Howard Musser speak during the meeting. The Salem Town Council hears civic planning expert Charles M. Graves offer recommendations concerning a proposed community center. As guest speaker at the meeting of Virginia Forests, Incorporated, at the Hotel Roanoke, Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Manufacturers Donald J. Hardenbrook describes why he supports the proposed tax reforms of the Herlong-Baker bill.
