Abstract
Reverend John Howard congratulates George E. Heller on his election as commander of the Virginia American Legion. Horses tread through high water and people survey the damage done to a ten-mile stretch of U.S. Route 58 after heavy flooding. A crew from the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis films two young polio victims encased in negative pressure ventilators (also called iron lungs) at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
