Abstract
A manger scene and a 30-foot Christmas tree are shown on the Roanoke, Va., courthouse lawn; program opens with Christmas carol singing led by the combined choirs of Lee Junior High School; State Senator Earl Fitzpatrick gives the invocation for the ceremony; tree is lit by Mayor Vincent Wheeler and Lilia Van Dyke, who is the daughter of a Roanoke minister; opera singer Jane Stuart Smith performs Christmas carols for the patients of the children's ward of Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
