The Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Va., hosts the 20th Annual Virginia Conference on World Trade. Footage shows scenes from inside the conference room as men deliver speeches to a large audience. Footage switches to diplomat and former ambassador James W. Riddleberger telling WSLS-TV reporter Glenn Howell about how the recent developments in Eastern Europe affected trade within the conference. Recently, the Soviet Union invaded Czechoslovakia, and although the United States does not heavily rely on Eastern Europe for trade, it is important for the United States to work toward the goal of global free trade.
