Sign on the Lawn from anti-apartheid protest held during the March 1986 Board of Visitors meeting. The Board took its first divestment action at that meeting, withdrawing investments from the Lubrizol Corporation because of its refusal to sign the Sullivan Principles or equivalent fair labor standards. The proxy advisory committee on South Africa recommended the divestment of Lubrizol stock.
