Summary
Corporate executive James Kaiser was born on February 28, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. After the death of his father, he moved to California with his mother and brother. During that time, his mother worked to help desegregate the Catholic schools in California. After high school, Kaiser graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with his B.S. degree in political science in 1966. He entered the Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. Joining Corning Glass Works as a sales representative, he rose through the ranks to become senior vice president in 1986. He was promoted to president of Corning Glass' Enseco, Inc. division in 1992. In 1998, Kaiser founded Avenir Partners, Inc., a Lexus dealership franchise in Memphis, Tennessee. He also founded Kaiser Services, LLC. and served as its president. He served on the boards of Corning Hospital, the Washington, D.C.-based Executive Leadership Council, Sunoco Inc. and MeadWestvaco.
