Investment banker Charles N. Atkins was born on December 12, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Howard University with his B.A. degree in political science in 1975, and earned his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1978. After graduation, Atkins served as an associate assistant to President Jimmy Carter, and as second legislative counsel to Senator David L. Boren. In 1984, he became deputy director of the Democratic National Convention platform committee, as well as deputy campaign manager for Walter Mondale's vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferarro. From 1988 to 1990, Atkins served as a senior vice president of Lehman Brothers, before joining Morgan Stanley to serve as executive director for twenty-two years, leaving in 2013 to found Atkins Capital Strategies LLC. In 2015, he became executive chairman of Premier League Basketball, and a partner at Maroon Capital Group LLC. Atkins also served on the board of the Metropolitan Museum.
