  • Engraved title with portrait medallion at each of the four corners (Hernán Cortés, Ferdinand Magellan, Portuguese explorer who led the first expedition to sail from the Atlantic to the Pacific; Christoval de Olid, would-be conqueror of Honduras who rebelled against Cortés; Gonzalo de Sandoval, right-hand man of Cortés who founded Colima); at center is the Spanish royal coat of arms; ten vignettes showing scenes from the Conquest, the Strait of Magellan, murder of Magellan, triumphant return to Spain, etc.
  • Imprint from colophon on 2a5 verso.
  • Vol. 3 of the 8-volume set. The set is divided into eight periods, comprising all the years from 1472-1554. The first 4 decades and the Descripción were printed in 1601 by Juan Flamenco. The last 4 decades, continuing the history from 1532 to 1554, were printed in 1615 by Juan de la Cuesta.
  • Vol. 3, decada terzera covers the years 1520-1526.
  • Error in paging: p. 259 misprinted as 261, 290 as 90, 291 as 391, 297 as 397, and 299 as 399.
  • Signatures: pi² a-z⁸ 2a⁶(-2a6) [sec.]⁸.
  • Text printed in double columns; head- and tail-pieces, initials and printed marginalia.
  • Includes index (16 unnumbered pages) at end.
