Summary
The collection consists of miscellaneous records of the Domino Society, chiefly those retained by Gilbert J. Sullivan during his tenure as secretary of the Society. The Society was "formed in order that the cup of each member may magnificently overflow with the joys of life." Membership was open to "[a]ny mail who is considered a gentleman" and admission was contingent receiving positive votes from nine-tenths of the members present at the meeting at which the applicant was nominated.
The records include the Society's constitution, minutes of meetings, announcements, invitations, plans for social events, and a small amount of correspondence. There is not a comprehensive list of members, though many are named in various minutes and letters.
