  • A letter dated Nov. 11, 54, from Basil Manly to his sister, Mrs. Catharine Watt, in which he reported "The Institute has opened prosperously" is handwritten on page [3] of the sheet. A share of stock in the school, which was enclosed with the letter, is no longer present.
