Inscriptions on lining papers (not in William Faulkner's hand): "Female Physician, p. 12/Speech of Judas, son of/Jacob, to Joseph, his Bro./ p. 62 &etc. is one of the first Matthew [?] ever made--/When the Israelites went out of/Egypt they did not borrow, but/ were rewarded vessels of Silver, of Gold/ [?] --see--p. 75--/Levites not bound to do Military duty p--99--." Inscription on next page above signature: "The Chastity of Joseph page 56." Inscription underneath signature: "Abram (p. 38) was the first man/ that taught the people there was but/ one God!!--/ Moses, Son of Amram 67,--84/ The 10 Commandments p.86." The author of these marginalia (presumably J.W.T. Falkner) also underlined and marked with pointing-hand symbols passages in the text corresponding to the page numbers listed on lining papers.
