SPECIAL COLLECTIONS: PS3511 .A86 Z42 .C3 F5 1921: Original brown cloth. William Faulkner Collection. From the Library of William Faulkner, with his signature, undated, 35 Van Dam St., New York City. Bart Welling notes that this autograph is "unique among the Summers-Faulkner books" because it refers to a Greenwich Village address that Faulkner moved to "between November 16 and 20 of 1921, during a short but influential sojourn in the city" (Bart Welling, Faulkner's Library Revisited" [Mississippi Quarterly 52.3], p. 408). Welling also states that this "Cabell title may have been one of the books Faulkner mentions purchasing for himself and for his family at the Doubleday bookstore, where he worked under the supervision of Elizabeth Prall (future wife of Sherwood Anderson)" (Welling 408). Purchased, 2014.
