  • Five letters written in April 1863. Authorship ascribed by Peabody Institute Catalogue to Reverdy Johnson. They could not have been written by him, since they attack Bradford and denounce Lincoln's policies. In 1863 Johnson supported Lincoln and the administration (although friction occurred in 1864); also, Johnson and Gov. Bradford were on friendly terms.
