  • First printed account of Hudson's discoveries in the Canadian Arctic, and the first map of Hudson's Bay and adjacent territory; account of the "terra Australia" by Pedro Fernandes de Queiros; and two accounts, by Isaac Massa, of the countries lying to the north of Russia.
  • Second edition, first issue.
  • Verso title page: a woodcut of a ship, beneath it, "Liber ad Lectorem," followed by 10 lines on verso beginning, "Qui cupis ignotas."
  • "Ad Lectorem Prolegomena, in tractatus sequentes" (sig. A2).

  • Second folding map (bound between the first folded map and A2): no title. World map showing Queirós's discovery of Terra Australis and the Solomon Islands.
  • Third folding map (bound between D1 and D2) has title: "Caerte van 't Noorderste Russen, Samojeden, ende Tingoese Landt: alsoo dat vande Russen afghetekent, en door Isaac Massa vertaelt is." Chart of northern Russia, the northern part of the Scandinavian peninsula, Novaya Zemblya, here identified as Nova Zembla. Includes ships, some towns, and some sea lions. Includes images of the inhabitants of Samoyed dressed in furs and one holds a bow.

  • Text entirely different from that of 1612 edition.
