This Prelinger Archives film is an overview of NASA activities during and leading up to 1965. Live-action and animated imagery depict the launch of Mariner 4 mission to Mars, covering both interplanetary data gathered during the flight as well as knowledge gained from the spacecraft's encounter with the Red Planet. Rudimentary, early photographs of Mars' surface are included. Next, the film focuses on the first Voyager mission and its planned probes to further study Mars, then moves on to discussions of more Pioneer missions to Venus as well as the research accomplishments of various Gemini missions. Planned bio-satellite systems with living specimen payloads are shown too.
