Summary
A woman risks everything to follow her heart in this contemporary dramatization of Leo Tolstoy's powerful epic of passion, morality, and betrayal. Helen McCrory stars as literature's most tragic adulteress, with Kevin McKidd as the dashing Count Vronsky and Stephen Dillane as Anna Karenina's cold-hearted husband. But the star behind the stars is screenwriter Allan Cubitt, who brings out psychological aspects of the novel that previous adaptations glossed over, restoring importance to the relationships between Kitty and Levin, Dolly and Oblonsky, and Anna and her husband that Tolstoy portrayed so brilliantly in his original work.
