Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. (Emeritus Professor of Medicine and Founder, Stress Reduction Clinic and Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society, University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, Massachusetts) discussed incorporating Buddhist practices, especially meditation, for aiding in stress reduction and promoting healing. Dr. Kabat-Zinn addressed mindfulness as a process of paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally. This process can enable healing through acquiring self knowledge, personal growth, and transformation in harmonizing mind and body. Dr. Kabat-Zinn also addressed disembodiment, brain changes, worrying, awareness, and wholeness.
