The collection contains a letter from Roberta Trigg, 1847 May 1, thanking Shelah Kane for her kind words about "Haworth Idyll" and recommending she read "Villette." With Trigg's note is a letter from FB at Barnard thanking Kane for the loan of Trigg's book which was enjoyed despite its "very conventional character interpretation of C and E." A publisher's prospectus for "Haworth Idyll" is included.
The collection contains a letter from Helena Hirst to Amanda Kane, 1948 January 15, describing a chimney fire in their home, thanking her for chocolates, commenting on the atomic bomb and noting the death of Stanley Baldwin. The letter also contains a note from Francis W. Hirst promising her a copy of "In the golden days."
The collection also contain a letter from Edwin P. Conquest, Jr., to Shelah Kane Scott, chatting about friends and books.
