"From the Baltimore Sun: Some weeks ago was published on this page an article by William J. Robertson entitled 'Old Virginia's sad affliction,' wherein it was argued that the Old Dominion, the mother of Presidents, had in these modern days been given over to and throttled by babbittry and mediocrity. Promptly we were deluged by indignant protests from inflamed Virginians. One such answer by Lee McCardwell has been published. Below is another from an old colleague of Mr. Robertson's."
