"This is the third installment of the 'Census Records,' a logitudinal dataset which follows individuals through four U.S. Federal Censuses: 1850, 1860, 1900, 1910. It contains all the observations for recruits from the Early Indicators primary sample of 35,570 soldiers from the states of California, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Misouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. 22,115 (62.7%) of these soldiers were successfully matched to at least one of the Census years. The Census data set includes information on each veteran in the sample as well as information on all othere living in the same household.
