From the library of Vachel Lindsay, with his inscription, extensive notes in the text, pencil designs, and three pages tipped in: a two-page article by John Erskine on "John Milton's Paradise Lost" removed from the Jan., 1927 issue of The Delineator, and a clipped newspaper reproduction of one of Doré's engravings from the poem. Also includes a poem by Lindsay, "[How well I remember/ Hiram 1898]," handwritten on p. [v]. Gift of C.W. Barrett, 1973-4. Three pages of notes in Lindsay's hand and a draft letter signed by Lindsay, which were laid in, have been transferred to MSS Division.
