Dr. Irvine of Phila."; "There are 47 invalid officers in this ward. The officers in this and ward 9 united to day in a special application to the Sect'y of War, for immediate release & transportation. June 1st 65."; "Capt. J.S. Turner. Died Friday, 2 p.m." A draft of the application for release, addressed to Gen. U.S. Grant, is written on first blank page at end. Draft of another letter from Henry Baker to an unidentified recipient, dated June 3rd, 1865, asking for immediate release for himself is written on the 4th blank page at end. Gift of Dr. Edgar S.
