  • Differs from the 15 cm. edition published by Ross in 1872 in the following ways: All text is in a ruled border. Photographs are mounted in a printed rule frame, and captions include the names of the buildings pictured and an excerpt from the poem; photographs of "Michael Scott's Tomb" and "Dryburgh Abbey" show different views; photograph of "Branksome Tower" (p. 39) is not present in ViU copy of the 15 cm. edition, which contains instead a photograph of Roslan Chapel (p. 136).
  • Error in paging: no. xxx repeated.
  • Bound in wooden boards, attached to a leather backstrip; front cover contains views in each corner (clockwise, Melrose Abbey, Sir Walter Scott's Monument, Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace) with a central medallion portrait (mounted) of Scott; mounted oval view on back cover is missing.
