  • Second edition. The first edition was published in 1599.
  • Engraved title page: illustration of Wright's Quadrant, Universal Rings for finding variation, and his World Chart on Mercator's projection.
  • The engraved world map on the title page is one of the first maps to mention Virginia.
  • Offset of title-page on *2 verso.
  • "Additions to this edition that were not in the former." -- *1v-*2r.
  • Dedication to Prince Henry.
  • "The diuision of the whole art of nauigation", a translation of "Compendio de la arte de navegar" by Rodrigo de Zamorano, has separate pagination, but register continuous (begins on 2G recto).
  • First folded plate has title: "The draught of the Meridians, Parallels, and rumbes of the nautical Planisphoere truly made." printed at bottom: Place this betweene H and I, pag. 115.
  • Errata ("Faults escaped amend thus.") on the verso of final printed leaf.
  • Errors in paging: 53-54, 183-184 and 364-367 omitted in numbering.
  • Signatures: *¹⁰ [par.]⁸ A-2F⁸ 2f⁸ 2G-2P⁸ (2O8 blank)
  • Head-pieces, initials and printed marginalia.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS: Bound in green patterned paper covered boards; leather backstrip and corners. Flat spine, with a red cloth title lable. Housed in a red cloth covered portfolio and a matching slipcase. Library copy imperfect: lacking p. 441-444 and 453-456 wanting in all known copies; blank leaf 2O8 also wanting. Possibly missing two folding maps. Yale University Library copy of the same edition contains the following maps. [1] [Edward Wright's chart of the world. Scale not given. 1610.]. [2] A particular sea chart for the islands Azores. [ca. 1:5,400,000. 1610]. Provenance: Stamp of Bibliothek K.K. Marine Ober Comp. Tracy W. McGregor Library, American History Collection.
