Both Hansford's letter of presentation, dated March 15, 1822, and Jefferson's letter of thanks dated Apr. 7, 1822 are owned by the Library of Congress with images available through the American Memory Project. Two titles in the list (Sophocles Tragedies in Greek & Latin, Cambridge 1669; Cicero de Officiis in Latin, title page lost) are no longer in the Library, possibly destroyed in the 1895 Rotunda fire.
