Abstract
The goal of this paper is to examine some of the ideas about education reform among May Fourth era writer-teachers, and to examine its contemporary significance in light of the global push for education for all by 2015, as well China’s recent education reform efforts. The paper also seeks to show why the study of literature is important to the study of social and political development in China, and especially to the historical development of education reform in the May Fourth era.
