Abstract
The objectives of this study area (1) to describe briefly Russell's life, with particular reference to the evolution of his thought and factors that were influential in the formulation of his theories; (2) to describe Russell's view of religion, the differentiation of the essence of religion from associated assertions, and the dichotomy produced by the positive value attached to the former and the negative value attached to the latter: and (3) the influence of the dichotomy upon Russell's view of mysticism and politics.
