Abstract
Three main theories presenting a framework for discussing the attitudes of the American business community regarding U.S. intervention in Southeast Asia. These theories are the neo-colonialist approach, as described most recently by Gabriel Kolko; World Systems theory, expressed most clearly by Thomas McCormick and Bruce Cumings; and the national security approach as defined by Melvyn Leffler.
